M-PsyC Leadership
The Michigan Psychedelic Center was founded and is led by George A. Mashour, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Mashour is a professor of anesthesiology and pharmacology at the University of Michigan Medical School and is an active faculty member in the Neuroscience Graduate Program. Mashour founded the Center for Consciousness Science in 2014 and conducts research on consciousness, including studies of psychedelics, across the translational spectrum. He also serves as Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Faculty Development for the University of Michigan Medical School.
Associate Director Kevin Boehnke, Ph.D.
Dr. Boehnke is an assistant professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Michigan Medical School. His research focuses on understanding real-world trends in use of cannabis and psychedelics and developing meaningful treatment paradigms to help minimize harm and maximize benefits associated with their use. His goal is to rigorously assess the therapeutic potential of these substances and to help address the public health harms caused by their criminalization.
